  • Research: Received $3.0 million in externally funded awards as principal or co-principal investigator (Triangle Community Foundation, Gates Foundation, Burroughs-Wellcome Fund, NSF STEM+C, NSF-CNS, NC DPI); three active grants as PI or Co-PI--Burroughs-Wellcome SSEP (2020-22), NSF STEM+C (2019-22), and TCF Borchardt Fund (recurring, annual)
  • Scholarship: Published 100+ book chapters, journal articles, conference proceedings, and technical reports
  • Teaching/Presenting: Developed and taught 8 different online courses for LDT programs; presented 120+ conference papers/posters/workshops; named a 2014 i3@UNC Faculty Fellow by UNC Online for online course development; awarded the 2015 NC State Gertrude Cox Award for Innovative Excellence in Teaching & Learning with Technology; invited to serve as Visiting Lecturer by Charles University Faculty of Education, Department of Information Technology and Technical Education (November 2017)

  • Extension: Led seven study abroad programs for 128 in-service teachers in England, Finland, Sweden, and the Czech Republic (2011, 13, 14, 16, 17, 18, 19) with recurring funding in place for future programming under the program name CIDRE (2022, two Covid-postponed cohorts to Munich and Salzburg); awarded a 2016 NC State Outstanding Extension Service Award; inducted into NC State Academy of Outstanding Faculty Engaged in Extension (AOFEE); three-time nominee for university's global engagement award (2017, 2018, 2019)
